Junior Livestock Auction and Loverboy Highlight Today's Fair
CENTRAL POINT, OREGON - Youth was served at last night's Boys Meet Girls concert at the Jackson Count Fair with a younger audience filling the seats and the lawn to see this pop band from Boston. The show complements the Fair's diverse lineup of concerts that includes acts for all ages and tastes, including country music, pop, and classic rock and roll. Tonight's concert features Canadian rock group Loverboy at 8 p.m. The band boasts four multi-platinum albums with hit singles such as “Turn Me Loose” and “Working for the Weekend.”
The Fair, presented by Sherms, runs today through Sunday at the Jackson County Fairgrounds & Expo Park in Central Point.
"We had another nice concert in the Lithia Motors Amphitheater, and the evening continued to cool off the crowd with nice breezes coming off of Smokey's Pond. It's a great setting to enjoy an outdoor concert as the sun goes down and the stage lights up. And the fireworks after the concert are a spectacular finish to the night," said Jackson County Fairgrounds & Expo Park Director Dave Koellermeier.
More great activities for the young and old alike continue today and tomorrow at the Fair, highlighted by the 4H and FFA beef and goat auction at 7:30 p.m. in the Olsrud Pavilion.
"This is really a world class auction and a culmination of a year's hard work and dedication for local youth who raise and care for these animals. It's nice to see how many people and businesses in our community come out to support these kids by bidding during the auction," said Koellermeier.
SpongeBob and Patrick costumed characters appear in the air conditioned Charter KidZone at 3, 6 and 9 p.m. Kids, and parents, can meet and have their photos taken with the popular duo.
The Dinner Stage features Hi Yah Tae Kwon Do at noon, magician Adam the Great and clown Toby Patella at 1 p.m. and again at 5:40 p.m., Qi Brothers at 1:40 p.m., the Gayle Wilson Trio at 3 p.m., the Gary Wade Band at 4:20 p.m., 221 Fly at 6:20 p.m., Rogue Rage at 7:55 p.m., and Snakebite at 9:30 p.m.
Admission is $9 for adults, $6 for youth 7 to 12 and seniors 62 and older, and free for kids 6 and under; Sunday admission is free. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
